CHARLESTON, S.C. (Jan. 6, 2015) - US Club Soccer has always had a strong presence at the NSCAA Convention, but 2016 in Baltimore will be on a new level.
Highlighted by LaLiga, US Club Soccer’s long-term technical partner focused on Players First, the convention schedule includes a live field demonstration, panel discussion, classroom session and autograph session led by LaLiga officials.
- Thursday, Jan. 14 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.: Field session – “Coaching Methods in the LaLiga Academies: Developing World-Class Players”
- Thursday, Jan. 14 from 2:15-3:15 p.m.: Panel discussion – “A Career in LaLiga and Bringing the Experience to the U.S.”
- Thursday, Jan. 14 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.: Autograph session with LaLiga Ambassadors – Michel Salgado and Fernando Sanz
- Friday, Jan. 15 from 2:30-3:30 p.m.: Classroom session – “Youth Development in Spain – LaLiga Methods and Philosophy”
Before the grand opening of the convention exhibit hall Thursday night, US Club Soccer will have an hour-long field session at 11 a.m. titled “Coaching Methods in the LaLiga Academies: Developing World-Class Players.” LaLiga methodology experts Gari Fullaondo, Hugo Blanco and Michel Salgado will present the session, showing training principles used daily in top Spanish youth academies. Then, at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, Salgado and Fernando Sanz will lead a panel discussion titled “A Career in LaLiga and Bringing the Experience to the U.S.” Salgado, a current LaLiga Ambassador, and Sanz, the General Director of LaLiga Middle East & North Africa, both enjoyed stellar playing careers in LaLiga. They’ll discuss their development as players and how the methods that formed will be brought to the United States in more detail through the LaLiga/US Club Soccer technical partnership and the LaLiga Formation Methodology courses being hosted by US Club Soccer in 2016.

The convention exhibit hall opens to the public Thursday at 6 p.m. Salgado and Sanz will be at the US Club Soccer booth at 6:30 p.m. for an autograph session.
On Friday, LaLiga methodology experts Fullaondo and Blanco will present a classroom session titled “A Youth Development Outline from Spain – LaLiga Methods and Philosophy.” This presentation will outline some of the key philosophies and methods in youth development used by LaLiga youth academies, which will be introduced through the US Club Soccer’s LaLiga Formation Methodology courses later this year.
Fullaondo is the technical advisor for the Committee of Football Coaches of the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the director of Kimet Sport. Blanco is LaLiga’s Sports Projects Coordinator and has extensive experience with the Galician Football Federation and Galician School of Coaching.
