Dallas Texans midfielder Chad Sahinkaya has had quite the past 12 months, from traveling abroad with US Club Soccer’s id2 National Selection International Tour, to leading his U-13 Texas Pre-Academy League team to a national title at the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Champions Cup, and topping it all off with a successful start to the 2012-13 NPL season.

Upon an invitation to participate in US Club Soccer’s id2 Program Training Camp in Texas at the end of 2011, Sahinkaya was given the opportunity to be scouted by U.S. Soccer National Team scouts and be named one of 18 players chosen to represent his country on the id2 National Selection International Tour in Spain.

As the lone Texan to be selected to the elite squad, Sahinkaya played a key role in victories against academy teams from some of the world’s best football clubs, most notably a 3-1 win over FC Barcelona.

After a successful 2011-12 Texas Pre-Academy League campaign that concluded with a national title at the 2012 NPL Champions Cup, Sahinkaya’s U-15 Dallas Texans are off to a 2-2-1 start, most recently gaining three points in a win over the Texas Rush. Up next, the Texans look toward their matchup against Lonestar SC on Oct. 27, when Sahinkaya and his team will look to move their way up the league table.
