METAIRIE, La. (Oct. 31, 2017) - A total of 63 players from 12 clubs in Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana participated in the Player Development Program (PDP) at Lafreniere Park. Players competed in technical drills emphasizing tactical attacking, as well as 11v11 scrimmages.
This PDP was hosted by the Gulf States Premier League, and the following clubs were represented:

- Brilla Juniors (Miss.)
- Cajun SC (La.)
- City Park (La.)
- Gulf Coast Texans (Fla.)
- Gulf Coast United (Miss.)
- Hattiesburg FC (Miss.)
- Jackson FC (Miss.)
- Louisiana Fire SC (La.)
- Mandeville SC (La.)
- Mississippi Rush (Miss.)
- Slidell Youth SC (La.)
The PDP targeted top 2004-05 boys and girls in the region, and top performers will receive invitations to the Dec. 7-10 id2 Training Camp in Casa Grande, Ariz.
Staff coaches directing the US Club Soccer PDP curriculum were: Amber Andrews (Mandeville SC), Craig Harwell (Mandeville SC), Ryan Lazaroe (Slidell Youth SC), Seth Noble (Baton Rouge SC) and Justin Roberts (Brilla Juniors). Leo Garcia, NPL General Manager and US Club Soccer Vice President of Competitions, was on-site to oversee the program.
PDPs are focused around the NPL and other top leagues in specific geographic areas. PDP invitations are based on objective scouting of elite clubs and leagues, combined with recommendations from top Directors of Coaching.
The Gulf States Premier League, which includes 13-U through 18/19-U boys and girls age groups, was founded in 2011 as an originating NPL member league. The Gulf States Premier League has committed to an annual PDP every fall. 2017-18 league play recently kicked off.
