NEP – NPL Division adds seven boys teams to group of 2017 NPL Finals qualifiers

CHARLESTON, S.C. (June 21, 2017) – Seven teams from four clubs are ready to make their mark on next month’s NPL Finals after winning NEP – NPL Division championships in their respective age groups.

NEFC led the way with three league titles and FC Stars grabbed a pair. These seven boys championship teams join six girls teams from the NEP – NPL Division that have also qualified to the NPL Finals.

  • 13-U (2004s) boys: Western United Pioneers ‘04
  • 14-U (2003s) boys: NEFC ‘03
  • 15-U (2002s) boys: NEFC ‘02
  • 16-U (2001s) boys: FC Stars ‘01
  • 17-U (2000s) boys: NEFC ‘00
  • 18/19-U (1998/99s) boys: FC Stars ‘98
  • 18/19-U (1998/99s) boys: GPS-MA ‘98

On the girls side, NEFC represented the NEP on the national championship stage during the 2016 NPL Finals in Colorado in three different age groups. Oakwood SC was a national finalist in last year’s 15-U girls division.

On the boys side, NEFC’s 14-Us and 17-Us both participated in last year’s NPL Finals, and the latter finished as a semifinalist. GPS-MA’s ’98 team returns to the national championship after also being ousted in the semifinals last year.

The 2017 NPL Finals, to be held July 13-17 at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind., is the culminating event of year-long, league-based competition in the NPL. The prestigious national championship features qualifiers from all 22 NPLs around the country.
