Five clubs grab Gulf States Premier League championships

CHARLESTON, S.C. (May 16, 2017) - Thirteen teams from five clubs won Gulf States Premier League regular season championships and have qualified to the 2017 NPL Finals.

Louisiana Fire Juniors and MSC Lakers led the way with four division titles apiece, while Mississippi Rush and Cajun SC each secured a pair of age group championships. Darlington Soccer Academy shared the 19-U girls title to round out the club wins.

In the league's second division, Baton Rouge SC '03 Red (14-U boys) and Cajun SC Fury '02 (15-U boys) and Cajun SC Fury '01 (16-U boys) won their respective age groups.

The 2017 NPL Finals, featuring 13-U through 19-U boys and girls teams, will be held July 13-17 at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind. It is the culminating event of year-long, league-based competition among 22 NPLs throughout the country.
